Boman Kemp Egress Window Well at a Patio in Lakewood
This Lakewood basement opening sat right up against a brick patio. Instead of moving the window, we cut the pavers back and set a galvanized steel Boman Kemp window well tight to the foundation, with a built-in escape ladder so the well works as a true emergency exit.
What We Did
A patio right next to a basement window can make a well replacement look tricky. Here is how this one came together.
Cut the patio back
The brick pavers along the foundation were cut back just far enough to make room for a full-size well, keeping the rest of the patio intact.
Set a Boman Kemp steel well
A galvanized steel Boman Kemp well was set tight against the foundation around the basement slider, with gravel at the bottom for drainage.
Added an escape ladder
A built-in ladder at the front of the well makes it easy to climb out, so the window works as an emergency exit.
